June 1-11

June 12th will be a performance and FUNDRAISER at Kingston Downs on Saturday. The public is invited.

Shakespeare Summer Camp will be a glorious adventure whether you are 8 or 18. We will take a close look at text, stage business, audition prep and of course, performance.

Camp hours are 9am-4pm and will begin at The RAD Playhouse. Early drop off or late pickup can be arranged.

There is a place to check if you'd like to set up an audition. Auditioners are asked to prepare a 90sec monologue and 16 bars of a song.

Art

Art classes will include the study of people, human proportions and still life art. Campers will create 2D classical artist inspired pieces and a sketchbook/journal. Find your own art style and create a painting to take home. Afternoons, campers will be painting sets for the shows and creating large format images for backdrops.

 

Teacher: Melissa Harris, Award winning artist, owner and instructor of The Art Lab in Pasadena, MD. Former owner/teacher: Gallery 318 in Rome, GA. Melissa holds a fine arts seal diploma, a BA in Education, is an expert in fine arts, art history, art education & the performing arts.

Stage Movement

Creative Stage Business: Handkerchiefs, hats, .walking sticks, tea cups, double takes and masks are so much fun on stage! Add musical sound effects and the fun becomes hilarious! Learn the business of stage business. Use the tools on stage to bring true life to your characters. Learn to use body and voice to enhance the actor's ability to process their experience into development of a character.

Drama / Improv

Tools, rules and fun techniques to develop acting skils and character development. Learn an audition monologue. Create small scene drama and learn the art of Improv thru drills, exercises and games. Campers will learn basic rules for creating good scenes and entertaining improv.
